11th Sitting Marked by Two Walkouts, 36 Points of Order

ISLAMABAD, October 17, 2011: The National Assembly met for two hours and 40 minutes during the 11th sitting of the ongoing session. The sitting which started an hour late witnessed low attendance of Members, with only 46 Members present at the outset and 62 present when the sitting was adjourned.

A total of 36 Points of Order were raised, consuming 66% of the sitting time. However, none of the Point of Order raised by Members attracted the Chair’s formal ruling.

The National University of Modern Languages (Amendment) Bill, 2011 was unanimously passed by the House.

The Prime Minister attended the sitting for 21 minutes, while the Leader of the Opposition was present for 37 minutes. The 11th sitting witnessed two walkouts by individual Members.
