ISLAMABAD, January 3, 2015: Starting 58 minutes behind schedule, the third sitting of the National Assembly’s 17th session witnessed the introduction of two major legislations, says Free and Fair Election Network (FAFEN) in its daily factsheet.
The Minister for Law, Justice and Human Rights introduced the Twenty-First Amendment Bill 2015 to amend the Constitution and the Pakistan Army (Amendment) Bill 2015 to amend the Pakistan Army Act 1952.
As many as 115 (34%) lawmakers were present at the start of the sitting and 120 (35%) at the time of adjournment. The Prime Minister as well as the Opposition Leader attended the sitting that lasted nine minutes. Following are some key observations of the parliamentary business:
Members’ Participation in House Proceedings
- The National Assembly met nine minutes.
- The sitting started at 1058 hours against the scheduled time of 1000 hours, witnessing a delay of 58 minutes.
- The Speaker presided over the entire sitting. The Deputy Speaker was also present.
- The Prime Minister and the Leader of the Opposition attended the sitting.
- The parliamentary leaders of MQM, PkMAP, AMLP, JI and ANP attended the sitting.
- One hundred and fifteen members (34%) were present at the outset and 120 (35%) at the time of adjournment.
- Three minority members attended the sitting.
- Six members applied for leave.
Output
- The Minister for Law, Justice and Human Rights introduced the Twenty-First Amendment Bill 2015 to amend the Constitution and the Pakistan Army (Amendment) Bill 2015 to amend the Pakistan Army Act 1952.
Transparency
