Samaj Development Foundation

Samaj Development Foundation (SDF) is a not-for-profit, non-governmental organization, which was registered in April 2011 under Societies Act 1860. It aims to strengthen the process of socio-economic development and empowerment of the deprived sections of the society at the grassroots level. The organization believes in providing sustainable solution to the communities by developing their ability to mobilize, organize, manage and control local and external resources on their own.

The creation of Samaj Development Foundation was an effort by a group of young motivated volunteers who had vigorously worked with the victims of July 2010 torrential rains and floods, that had caused an unprecedented damage to the agriculture sector, public infrastructure, housing and daily life in 26 districts across Pakistan, including Rahim Yar Khan. This group soon realized that the affected communities of Rahim Yar Khan were home to the country’s most marginalized people and that relief alone would not address their social and economic vulnerability. That’s why their major objectives of work include mobilization of communities, formation of committees for collective bargaining, capacity building and networking.

Its Vision is a vibrant society, where all citizens live in peace & harmony and enjoy equal social, economic and political rights without any discrimination.
