Islamabad, November 09, 2015: Starting 20 minutes behind the schedule, the Balochistan Assembly adopted a resolution and witnessed introduction of a bill during the 2nd sitting of its 22nd session on Monday, says Free and Fair Election Network (FAFEN).
Minister for Law introduced the Balochistan (Wildlife Protection, Preservation, Conservation and Management) Amendment Bill 2015.
The House adopted a resolution regarding gas supply to Harnai District and its adjacent areas. Following are some key observations of the House proceeding:
Members’ Participation in House Proceedings
- The Balochistan Assembly met for 2 hours and 15 minutes
- The sitting started at 1620 hours against the scheduled time of 1600 hours
- Twenty-eight (43%) lawmakers were present at the start and 26 (40%) at the end of the sitting
- A maximum of 33 (51%) members attended the sitting
- The Deputy Speaker chaired the entire sitting
- The Chief Minister and his counterpart, the Leader of the Opposition, attended the entire sitting
- Parliamentary leaders of PML-N, JUI-F, PML, MWM, PkMAP and ANP were present
- Two minority members attended the sitting
- One member applied for leave
Outputs
- The Provincial Minister for Law introduced the Balochistan (Wildlife Protection, Preservation, Conservation and Management) Amendment Bill, 2015
- Tabled by PkMAP male lawmaker, the House adopted a resolution regarding gas supply to Harnai District and its adjacent areas.
Representation and Responsiveness
- Two out of seven starred questions appearing on the agenda were taken up. An adjournment motion regarding illegal parking fees at parking areas in Quetta was not admitted as it was rejected by the majority
