ISLAMABAD, October 4, 2011: The National Assembly met for two hours and five minutes in the 2nd sitting of the ongoing 35th session. The sitting witnessed low attendance of Members with only 18% of the legislators present at the outset of the sitting and 12% at the end.

ISLAMABAD, Sept 22: A little more than a quarter of Station House Officers (SHOs) in Punjab and Sindh were found to be unaware of the Access to Information Policy, according to a quarterly review of police stations issued by FAFEN on Thursday.

ISLAMABAD, Sept 8: A FAFEN crime monitoring report on Thursday said around one-fifth of the FIRs registered in 66 districts across the country in June this year were about thefts, car lifting, and robberies and dacoities. The report said out of the total 39,497 registered FIRs, 7,204 (18%) were about cases of thefts, stealing of vehicles, and robberies. On average, 109 FIRs were registered against these crimes in each of the 66 monitored districts.
ISLA MABAD, August 25: A FAFEN monitoring report on Thursday said an overwhelming majority of patients visiting 110 Basic Health Units (BHUs) across Pakistan in July 2011 complained about unavailability of free of cost prescribed medicines at in-house pharmacies. FAFEN Governance Monitors noted that 85% of the monitored BHUs had stocks of medicines and 89% were issuing them free of cost to patients.
ISLAMABAD, August 21: More than 1.4 million cases of diseases, including widespread instances of gastrointestinal infections and scabies, were reported in 51 districts nationwide in May this year, according to a FAFEN monitoring report released on Sunday. The total number of gastrointestinal infections and scabies cases reported was 437,515 and 211,320 respectively, the highest recorded this year.
The report collected the number of registered First Information Reports (FIRs) against 27 offences in 63 districts across country – 61 of them reported 790 murder cases. These also included 25 reported cases of ‘honour killings’ in 12 districts. On average, 13 murder cases were registered in each of the 61 districts in May this year.
ISLAMABAD, August 17: A FAFEN report on Wednesday said prices of commodities have witnessed a mixed trend in the first half of Ramazan, with 26 items going up by 5% and 20 going down by 7% on monthly basis. Prices of 26 commodities including meat, rice, poultry, sweeteners and some kitchen fuel items registered an average increase of 5% while 20 commodities including apple, potato, tomato, some pulses and vegetable ghee registered an average decrease of 7% in Ramazan, compared to their prices on 10th July 2011.
ISLAMABAD, August 15, 2011: The 33rd session of the National Assembly spent half the time on discussing the law and order, especially in Karachi and Quetta, but only 14% Members took part in it. A total of 47 Members – 44 male Members and three female Members – took part in the debate on law and order.
