ISLAMABAD, April 12, 2011: The National Assembly met for two hours and 18 minutes in the 2nd sitting of the ongoing 30th Session. The sitting witnessed low attendance of Members with only 13% of the legislators present at the outset of the sitting and 24% at the end.

Besides, passing landmarks in the form of the 18th and 19th Constitutional Amendments, the Assembly passed 29 out of 94 bills that came on the agenda during the third parliamentary year.
ISLAMABAD, 4th April, 2011: One in every 10 sanctioned teaching posts in monitored government girls’ high schools is lying vacant nationwide, where one teacher has to teach, on an average, 33 girls. Among the monitored schools, 55% did not have a library and 43% had no playgrounds. The government needs to ensure the availability of staff and facilities for the education of female students in the country, says FAFEN Education Monitor released here Monday.
ISLAMABAD, March 29, 2011: A relatively low turnout, suspicious voting pattern at 11 polling stations, relatively higher participation of women voters and procedural irregularities marked the by-election on NA-172 Dera Ghazi Khan-II held on March 29, 2011 that followed a competitive but expensive election campaign by candidates of major political parties, reports Free and Fair Election Network (FAFEN) in its Preliminary Report of the By-election observation.
ISLAMABAD, March 22, 2011: Police presence was observed inside all the 63 monitored polling stations in PK-69 Tank by-election held on March 21, 2011. FAFEN observers also witnessed suspicious voting patterns as more than 45 votes per hour were cast 11 booths, according to FAFEN’s preliminary report on by-election observation.
ISLAMABAD, March 16, 2011: Women Members accounted for almost half of the parliamentary agenda conducted during the third parliamentary year of the thirteenth National Assembly, according to parliamentary records and FAFEN’s direct observation of proceedings between March 11, 2010 and March 4, 2011.
ISLAMABAD, March 14, 2011: Around one sixth (17%) of Rural Health Centers (RHC) monitored by FAFEN during January, 2011 did not have trained staff to attend to Tuberculosis patients. Similarly, around one fifth (19%) of observed RHCs were lacking operational delivery rooms, according to FAFEN Health Institution Monitor, released here Monday.
ISLAMABAD, March 8, 2011: A total of 23,439 First Information Reports (FIRs) were registered with the police in 67 districts monitored by the Free and Fair Election Network (FAFEN) during the month of December 2010. Of the total registered crimes, 1,422 cases (6%) pertained to murder and attempted murder, according to FAFEN’s monthly Pakistan Crime Monitor, the first report of which was released here Tuesday.
