49 Points of Order Consume 74% of 8th Sitting Time

ISLAMABAD, February 2, 2011: The National Assembly met for three hours and 10 minutes with low Members’ attendance during the eighth sitting of the ongoing 28th session. A total of 61 Members were present at the outset, while only 24 were present when the sitting was adjourned. The Quorum was visibly lacking at various stages of the sitting, but it was not pointed out by any of the Members. A maximum of 161 Members’ attendance was recorded at one point during the sitting.

7th Sitting Almost Half of Sitting Time Consumed by Points of Order

5th Sitting NA Leaves Entire Agenda on Orders of the Day Unaddressed

ISLAMABAD, January 28, 2011: The National Assembly met for an hour and 55 minutes during the fifth sitting of the ongoing 28th session. The sitting which started 45 minutes late witnessed low attendance of Members, with only 56 Members present at the beginning and 75 present when the sitting was adjourned. A maximum of 142 Members was recorded at one point of sitting.

Fourth Sitting of 28th Session Marked by low MNA Attendance

ISLAMABAD, January 27, 2011: The National Assembly met for three hours and eight minutes during the 4th sitting of the ongoing 28th session. The sitting was marked by low Members’ attendance, with only 46 Members present at the outset and 39 present when the sitting was adjourned. The Quorum was visibly lacking at various stages of the sitting, but it was not pointed out by any of the Members.

Attendance remains issue in relatively more productive third sitting

ISLAMABAD, January 26, 2011: The National Assembly met for three hours and nine minutes during the third sitting of the ongoing 28th session. The sitting witnessed low attendance of Members, with 105 Members present at the outset and 79 were present when the sitting was adjourned. Although the Quorum was visibly lacking at various sitting of the sitting, this was not pointed out by any of the Members.

2nd Sitting adjourned prematurely due to heated exchange between PMLN and MQM Members

ISLAMABAD, January 25, 2011: The National Assembly met for an hour and 40 minutes during the 2nd sitting of the ongoing 28th session. The Private Members’ Sitting witnessed low attendance of Members, with 66 Members present at the outset and 106 present at the end.

28th Session of NA Points of Order Consume Almost Half of Sitting Time

FAFEN Report on 27th NA Session 69% Agenda Left Unaddressed

ISLAMABAD, January 9, 2011: The National Assembly left more than two thirds (69%) of the items listed on the agenda, unaddressed, primarily due to the excessive use of Points of Orders, which consumed 40% of the total Session time during 27th Session of National Assembly, which concluded here Friday.

27th Session of NA Points of Order consume entire eleventh sitting

The sitting started an hour and 30 minutes late against the stipulated time of 1700 hours and lasted for an hour and four minutes. Although the attendance of the Members was relatively better, as compared to the previous sittings, the Members only raised Points of Order to debate upon the petroleum prices and disregarded most of the regular agenda. There were 174 Members present at the outset and a maximum of 234 Members’ attendance was recorded at one point during the sitting.
