NA Suspends Regular Agenda Due to Death of Governor Punjab

ISLAMABAD, January 4, 2011: The National Assembly suspended the regular agenda due to the tragic death of the Governor, Punjab in a terrorist attack. The House only met for six minutes, with relatively better attendance of Members. There were 117 present on the onset of the sitting, while 131 were present when the sitting was adjourned.

Ninth Sitting of NA Points of Order consume entire sitting time

ISLAMABAD, January 3, 2011: National Assembly did not take up any regular agenda item during the course of ninth sitting of 27th session as the entire time was consumed by points of orders.

8th Sitting Quorum issue persists but not pointed out

ISLAMABAD, December 31, 2010: The National Assembly met for an hour and 53 minutes with low-attendance during the eighth sitting of the ongoing 27th session. There were only 45 Members present at the outset, and 82 were present when the sitting was adjourned. The Quorum was visibly lacking at various stages of the sitting, but it was not pointed out by any of the Members. A maximum of 119 Members’ attendance was recorded at one point during the sitting.

Points of Order Consume 52% Time of Low Attendance 7th Sitting

ISLAMABAD, December 29, 2010: The National Assembly met for two hours and 52 minutes in the 7th sitting of the ongoing Session. The sitting witnessed low attendance of members with only 21% of the legislators present at the outset of the sitting and 23% present when the sitting was adjourned. A maximum of 47% MNAs were present in the House when the Prime Minister was present. The Quorum was visible lacking at various stages of the sitting, but was not pointed out by any of the Members.

ISLAMABAD, December 24, 2010: The National Assembly met for an hour and fifty minutes during the fifth sitting of the ongoing 27th session. The sitting witnessed low attendance of Members, with only 30 Members present at the outset and 82 were present when the sitting was adjourned. Although the Quorum was visibly lacking at various sitting of this brief sitting, this was not pointed out by any of the Members.

Points of Order consume almost half of fourth sitting time

ISLAMABAD, December 23, 2010: National Assembly met for three hours and 10 minutes during the 4th sitting of the 27th session. The sitting was marked by low attendance of the members with only 13% present at the beginning and 9% members present when the sitting was adjourned.

NA passes The Constitution (Nineteenth Amendment) Bill, 2010

ISLAMABAD, December 22, 2010: The National Assembly unanimously passed the Constitution (Nineteenth Amendment) Bill, 2010 during the course of the third sitting of the ongoing 27th session. The passage of Bill took one hour and 36 minutes of the National Assembly proceedings.

ISLAMABAD, December 21, 2010: The National Assembly met for two hours and 30 minutes during the 2nd sitting of the ongoing 27th session. The attendance of Members was observed to be relatively better than the previous sitting, with 109 Members present at the outset and 86 were present when the sitting was adjourned.

27th Session of NA Points of Order Consume 44% Time of First Sitting

ISLAMABAD, December 20, 2010: The Twenty-Seventh Session of the National Assembly began with low attendance of Members, with only 20 % of the Members present at the outset and 27% present when the sitting was adjourned. The first sitting, which started 40 minutes late, lasted three hours, debated upon the Registration (Amendment) Bill, 2010, without reaching a conclusive end was deferred indefinitely.
