Lack of Quorum, Unmentioned, Marks 4th Sitting of NA

ISLAMABAD, September 23, 2010: National Assembly met for two hours and 53 minutes during the 4th sitting of the 25th session. The sitting was marked by low attendance of the members with only 16% present at the beginning and 17% members present when the sitting was adjourned. However, the lack of quorum was not pointed out by any member throughout the sitting. The maximum number of members attending at one point of sitting was 127 (37%).

3rd Sitting of NA Points of Order consume 40% of sitting time

ISLAMABAD, September 22, 2010: The third sitting of the 25th National Assembly session met for three hours and 25 minutes. The attendance of members at the outset of the sitting was observed to be slightly better, than the previous two sittings, with 108 present. However, there were only 53 legislators present when the sitting was adjourned. The Quorum was visibly lacking at various stages of the sitting, but was not pointed out by any of the members.

Many agenda items remain unaddressed as POs take 40% time

ISLAMABAD, September 21, 2010: The second sitting of the 25th session was marked by low attendance of members, with only 42 members present at the beginning and 37 present at the end of the sitting. National Assembly in this four-hour sitting took up five legislations and left most of the agenda for this Private Members’ Day unaddressed. Twenty-five Points of Orders (POs) were raised that took up 40 percent of the total sitting time.

First Sitting of 25th Session Marked by low MNA Attendance

ISLAMABAD, September 20, 2010: The Twenty-Fifth Session of the National Assembly began with low attendance of Members, with only 47 present at the outset of the sitting and 45 present at the end. The long stretched first sitting left most of the agenda unaddressed and took up a resolution regarding “the support to the people of Kashmir”, which was not on the Orders of the Day. The resolution was unanimously passed by the House.
