46 POs Consume More Than Two Thirds of 7th Sitting Time

ISLAMABAD, April 19, 2011: The National Assembly met for two hours and 37 minutes during the 7th sitting of the ongoing 30th session in which Member raised 46 Points of Order, which consumed 70% of the sitting time. However, none of the Points of Orders raised by Members attracted Speaker’s formal ruling.

Points of Order Consume 45% Time of Low Attendance 6th Sitting

ISLAMABAD, April 18, 2011: The National Assembly met for three hours and 20 minutes during the 6th sitting of the ongoing 30th session. The sitting was marked by low Members’ attendance, with only 74 Members present at the outset and 98 were present when the sitting was adjourned.

30th NA Session Low Attendance Persists in 5th Sitting Too

ISLAMABAD April 15, 2011: The National Assembly met for an hour and 45 minutes during the fifth sitting of the ongoing 30th session. The sitting which started 45 minutes late witnessed low attendance of Members, with only 48 Members present at the beginning and 65 present when the sitting was adjourned. A maximum of 117 Members was observed to be present at one point of the sitting.

Fourth Sitting of 30th Session Marked by Low MNA Attendance

ISLAMABAD, April 14, 2011: The National Assembly met for two hours and 20 minutes during the 4th sitting of the ongoing 30th session. Like previous sittings of the session, the issue of lack of quorum persisted during this sitting as well. The quorum was lacking at various stages of the sitting, however, was not raised by any of the Members. As many as 56 Members were observed to be present at the outset of the sitting, while only 20 Members were present when the sitting was adjourned.

ISLAMABAD, April 12, 2011: The National Assembly met for two hours and 18 minutes in the 2nd sitting of the ongoing 30th Session. The sitting witnessed low attendance of Members with only 13% of the legislators present at the outset of the sitting and 24% at the end.

3rd Parliamentary Year NA Registers Improvement in Legislation

ISLAMABAD, April 5, 2011: The National Assembly was observed to be more productive during the third parliamentary year (March 2010 - March 2011) in terms of taking up agenda items and focusing on legislation. Besides, passing landmarks in the form of the 18th and 19th Constitutional Amendments, the Assembly passed 29 out of 94 bills that came on the agenda during the third parliamentary year.
