Despite Low Attendance Trade Development Authority Bill Passed

ISLAMABAD, December 17, 2012: Starting 35 minutes late, the 6th sitting of the ongoing National Assembly session did not discuss the motion on law and order in the country. The sitting was also marked by low attendance as only 41 legislators were present at the start of the sitting while 77 were there at the end.

Despite low attendance, the house passed the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan Bill 2012 with simple majority. The 23rd Constitutional Amendment Bill and the Tax Laws (Amendment) Bill 2012 were deferred till the next sitting.

The Prime Minister, the Speaker and the parliamentary leaders of MQM, PML, PMLF, MMAP, ANP and NPP did not attend the sitting.
