ISLAMABAD, March 3, 2014: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly on Monday discussed imposition of education emergency in the province and steps taken so far in this regard during seventh sitting of its ongoing 10th session, says Free and Fair Election Network in its Daily Factsheet.
Seven lawmakers, including the Chief Minister, spoke on the subject for an hour and 35 minutes. The provincial minister for education responded to the concerns of the legislators.
No question hour was held today as the Chair ruled that it would be taken up tomorrow.
Members’ Participation in House Proceedings:
- The KP Assembly met for two hours and 55 minutes.
- The sitting started at 1835 hours against the scheduled time of 1500 hours, witnessing a delay of three hours and 35 minutes.
- The Speaker chaired the entire sitting while the Deputy Speaker was also present.
- The Chief Minister was present for one and a half hours while the Leader of the Opposition attended the sitting for one hour and 10 minutes.
- The parliamentary leaders of PML-N, PPPP, ANP, AJIP, QWP and JUI-F attended the proceedings.
- Forty-six members were present at the outset while 62 were there at the adjournment of the sitting. A maximum of 67 members were found to be present at a point during the sitting.
- Three minority members attended the sitting.
- Eleven members applied for leave.
