ISLAMABAD, October 2, 2015: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly witnessed introduction of four bills and adopted one resolution during the 62nd sitting of 15th session on Friday, says Free and Fair Election Network (FAFEN).
The bills introduced in the House included the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Civil Servants (Amendment) Bill 2015, the Provincial Services Academy (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa) (Amendment) Bill 2015, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Foundation Bill 2015 and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Journalists Welfare Endowment Fund (Amendment) Bill 2015.
Tabled by QWP lawmaker, the House adopted a resolution to remove airport tax being charged from international passengers.
The sitting started 22 minutes behind the schedule with 30 lawmakers (24%) present at the start and 50 (40%) at the time of adjournment.
Following are some key observations of the assembly proceedings:
Members’ Participation in House Proceedings
- The KP Assembly met for an hour and ten minutes.
- The sitting started at 1522 hours against the scheduled time of 1500 hours.
- Thirty lawmakers (24%) were present at the start and 50 (40%) at the end of the sitting.
- A maximum of 55 (44%) members attended the sitting.
- Entire sitting was chaired by the Speaker.
- The Chief Minister and the Opposition Leader did not attend the sitting.
- Parliamentary leaders of ANP, QWP and AJIP were present in the sitting.
- Two minority members attended the sitting.
- Five members applied for leave.
Output
- The House witnessed introduction of four bills including the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Civil Servants (Amendment) Bill 2015, the Provincial Services Academy (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa) (Amendment) Bill 2015, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Foundation Bill 2015 and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Journalists Welfare Endowment Fund (Amendment) Bill 2015.

Representation and Responsiveness
- Three out of six questions appearing on the agenda were taken up and responded by the relevant minister while three others were deferred due to absence of the relevant ministers.

- No protests/boycotts/walkouts were witnessed.
