ISLAMABAD, August 2, 2021: The absence of Provincial Minister and Secretary for Food during the question hour led to the adjournment of Punjab Assembly’s proceedings, says Free and Fair Election Network (FAFEN) in its Daily Factsheet on Monday.
Following are key observations of the House proceedings during the seventh sitting of 34th session:
Members’ Participation
- The House met for 29 minutes.
- The sitting started at 03:36 pm against the scheduled time of 02:00 pm.
- The speaker presided over the entire sitting.
- The deputy speaker was not present
- The leaders of the House (Chief Minister) and the opposition did not attend the sitting.
- As many as 41 MPAs (11 percent) were present at the outset and 84 (23 percent) at the adjournment of the sitting.
- None of the parliamentary leader attended the proceedings.
- One out of eight minority lawmakers attended the sitting.
Output
- The House did not consider the Provincial Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Bill, 2021.
Representation and Responsiveness
- The House neither observed question hour nor took up calling attention notices.
Order and Institutionalization
- The Chair adjourned the session due to absence of minister and secretary food department during the question hour.
- Five lawmakers spoke on points of order for 19 minutes related to production of a detained PTI lawmaker in the House and business of the House.
- The House was adjourned to meet again on Tuesday, August 03, 2021 at 02:00 pm.
