Pakistan Rural Workers Social Welfare Organization (PRWSWO) founded in 1997 by a group of community workers interested in improvement of standard of life of the disadvantaged sections of the society through a variety of socio economic services by adopting multi-disciplinary approaches.  PRWSWO based at Bahawalpur; South Region of Punjab is duly registered under Volunteer Social Welfare Agencies (Registration & Control) Ordinance 1961 vide Registration Certificate No:  BD/SW/WD/98/364 dated 02-02-1998. PRWSWO is enjoying the status as Non Profit Organization for the purposes of sub section (36) of the Income Tax Ordinance 2001 by the Income Tax Authorities vide Notification No. CIT-BWP/J-235/0304 dated 29th January 2004.

PRWSWO key areas of programs are Education & Literacy; Human Rights, Governance  &  Accountability; Women & Youth Empowerment; Child Rights & Development; Combating Human Trafficking & safe migration; Reproductive Health; Water & Sanitation etc. PRWSWO has implemented many projects of national significance with ILO/IPEC, UNICEF, AUSAID,TVO/EC, IOM, , IREX, Groupie Development France, Law & Justice Commission of Pakistan, Punjab Education Foundation, Save the Children Sweden, Commonwealth Foundation, UK, , The Asia Foundation, UNOHCHR, British Council Pakistan, USAID/TDEA and National Commission for Human Development (NCHD) etc.

PRWSWO is accredited with UN Convention on Combating Desertification (UNCCD); besides having membership of many International / Regional Networks & Organizations. PRWSWO has its credit to win the court battle in award of historical compensation amount worth $1.4 million to the 810 Ex-Trafficked Children who employed as Camel Jockeys in Gulf States. PRWSWO has been represented twice in UN General Assembly Special Sessions (UNGASS), International / Regional Conferences, Seminars & Workshops in the past and accredited to UNGIFT Global From to Fight against Human Trafficking in Vienna Austria in February 2008 being the only Civil Society Organization from Pakistan.
