Points of Order Consume Half of Sitting Time

ISLAMABAD, December 22, 2011: The National Assembly met for two hours and 55 minutes – the sixth sitting of the ongoing 37th session. The sitting witnessed low attendance of Members, with only 47 (14%) of them present at the start and 43 (13%) at the end.

The Legislators raised 23 Points of Order, consuming 90 minutes (51%) of the sitting time.

The House took up both Calling Attention Notices (CANs) appearing on the Orders of the Day but three Bills on the agenda were not taken up.

The Prime Minister attended the sitting for 27 minutes while the Leader of the Opposition was there for 55 minutes. The Parliamentary Leaders of the PMLN, and NPP attended the proceedings.
