ISLAMABAD, June 24, 2021: The Provincial Assembly of Punjab approved as many as 39 demands for grants of various departments on Thursday, observes Free and Fair Election Network (FAFEN) in its Daily Factsheet.
Following are key observations of the House proceedings during the eighth sitting of the 33rd session:
Members’ Participation
- The House met for an hour and 50 minutes.
- The sitting started at 04:07 pm against the scheduled time of 02:00 pm.
- The speaker presided over the sitting for an hour and 43 minutes, while the remaining sitting was chaired by a member of panel of chairpersons.
- The deputy speaker was not present.
- The leader of the House (Chief Minister) attended the sitting for 34 minutes.
- The opposition leader was not present.
- As many as 47 MPAs (13 percent) were present at the outset and 210 (57 percent) at the adjournment of the sitting.
- The parliamentary leader of PPPP and PRHP attended the proceedings.
- As many as four out of eight minority lawmakers attended the sitting.
Output
- The House approved a demand for grant related to education sector by rejecting cut motion on it. Five lawmakers including the Ministers for Schools Education and Higher Education spoke on it for 59 minutes.
- The House also approved 38 other demands for grants related to different public departments. A total of 40 demands for grants have been passed by the house so far during its ongoing budget session.

- The House was adjourned to meet again on Friday, June 25, 2021 at 02:00 pm.
