ISLAMABAD, December 16, 2021: The Punjab Assembly adopted a resolution on Thursday to condemn Sialkot lynching incident, observes Free and Fair Election Network (FAFEN) it its daily factsheet.
Following are key observations of the House proceedings during the second sitting of the 38th session:
Members’ Participation
- The House met for three hours and two minutes.
- The sitting started at 03:02 pm against the scheduled time of 01:00 pm.
- The deputy speaker presided over the sitting for 36 minutes in the absence of speaker while remaining sitting was chaired by a member of panel of chairpersons.
- The leaders of the house (chief minister) and the opposition did not attend the sitting.
- As many as 43 MPAs (12%) were present at the outset and 23 (6%) at the adjournment of the sitting.
- Parliamentary leader of PRHP attended the sitting.
- As many as three out of eight minority lawmakers attended the sitting.
Output
- The House adopted a resolution to condemn the Sialkot lynching incident and demanded tough action against all those responsible of it. Twelve lawmakers spoke on this resolution for an hour and 11 minutes.
Representation and Responsiveness
- The House took up ten out of 36 starred questions while the lawmakers also asked seven supplementary questions.
Order and Institutionalization
- Three lawmakers spoke on points of order for seven minutes.
- The House was adjourned to meet again on Friday, December 17, 2021 at 09:00 am.
