Senate: Low Attendance Persists

ISLAMABAD, December 19, 2012: Only six Senators were observed to be present at the outset and 22 at the adjournment of the 5th sitting of the ongoing 88th session of the Senate. Starting 53 minutes late, the sitting met for two hours and 26 minutes.

The Quorum was visibly lacking at various stages of the sitting. However, it was not pointed out by any of the legislators.

A calling attention notice appearing on the Orders of the Day was deferred because of the absence of advisor to PM on Petroleum and Natural Resources. A total of 18 Points of Order consumed 39% of the sitting time.
