ISLAMABAD, June 1, 2011: As many as 25 commodities including vegetables, pulses, poultry and cooked items registered an average decrease of 7% in their prices. Twenty three commodities on the other hand registered an increase of 5% in their prices in May as compared to April 2011. Of the 52 monitored commodities, the prices of four commodities, however, remained the same, says FAFEN’s Retail Price Monitor for the month of May 2011 released here Wednesday.
Forty-five percent of the government girls' primary schools monitored by FAFEN in April 2011 lacked clean drinking water for students. This crucial arrangement was not available in 35 of the 78 monitored schools - eight in Punjab, 11 in Sindh, 12 in KP and in all the four schools monitored in Balochistan.
Islamabad, May 30, 2011: The police stations in Sindh, Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) were understaffed to a varying degree, while those in Balochistan and Islamabad Capital Territory were heavily overstaffed, according to Free and Fair Election Network (FAFEN's) Police Station Monitor. This report is based on information collected by FAFEN monitors who visited 90 police stations in 62 districts across the country during January – March 2011. Of the monitored 90 police stations, 39 were monitored in Punjab, 23 in KP, 20 police stations in Sindh, seven in Balochistan and one in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT).
ISLAMABAD, May 26, 2011: As many as 10,831 new cases of tuberculosis reported at state-run healthcare facilities in 35 districts across Pakistan during February 2011 is a cause of serious concern for the government particularly in the Punjab province that accounted for 86% of the reported cases in 18 districts. According to FAFEN's monthly Health Scan, the number of confirmed cases of TB reported in February 2011 is double than the 4,910 cases of the disease reported a month earlier in 37 districts.

ISLAMABAD, May 13, 2011: Punjab province saw a 21% leap in officially-recorded crimes against women in February 2011 as compared to January 2011, according to FAFEN's collection of officially documented crime cases in 69 districts across Pakistan. The offices of District Police Officers (DPOs) in 25 out of 28 monitored districts of Punjab reported 700 FIRs of crimes that targeted women in February 2011 while in January the police administration of 23 out of 29 observed districts in the province reported 578 crimes against women.
