ISLAMABAD, June 13, 2011: The National Assembly met for three hours and 19 minutes during the 8th sitting of the ongoing 31st session to continue debate on budgetary proposals. Although no other agenda, apart from two Calling Attention Notices (CANs) and debate on budget, was listed on the Orders of the Day, the House spent 43% sitting time on proceedings unrelated to budget.
ISLAMABAD, June 11, 2011: The National Assembly met for two hours and 51 minutes during the 7th sitting of the ongoing budget session. The sitting witnessed low attendance of Members, with only 32 Members present at the outset of the sitting, while 24 were present when the sitting was adjourned.
ISLAMABAD, June 10, 2011: The National Assembly met for five hours and 10 minutes during the 6th sitting of the ongoing budget session. The sitting witnessed low attendance of Members, with only 8% Members present at the outset of the sitting and 10% present when the sitting was adjourned.

ISLAMABAD, June 08, 2011: The National Assembly met for four hours and 20 minutes during the 4th sitting of the ongoing budget session. The sitting witnessed low attendance of Members, with only 31 Members present at the outset of the sitting, while 43 were present when the sitting was adjourned.
ISLAMABAD, June 07, 2011: The National Assembly consumed 84% of third sitting time of the ongoing 31st session on debate upon Finance Bill 2011. Five members - two from PMLN and one each from PPPP, MQM and PMLF- spoke on the budgetary proposals for three hours and 25 minutes.
ISLAMABAD, June 6, 2011: Almost half of the 80 monitored Basic Health Units (BHUs) in April 2011 by FAFEN did not have specially trained staff to treat TB patients. There was also a noticeable shortage of staff to run disease control programs currently being implemented by the ministry of health. These include the Malaria Control Program (MCP) and the Control of Diarrheal Diseases (CDD) program.

ISLAMABAD, June 1, 2011: As many as 25 commodities including vegetables, pulses, poultry and cooked items registered an average decrease of 7% in their prices. Twenty three commodities on the other hand registered an increase of 5% in their prices in May as compared to April 2011. Of the 52 monitored commodities, the prices of four commodities, however, remained the same, says FAFEN’s Retail Price Monitor for the month of May 2011 released here Wednesday.
