15% Increase in Cases of Motor Vehicle Snatching

ISLAMABAD, October 3: Incidents of motor vehicle snatching increased 15% as 54 districts reported 836 cases in July compared with preceding month’s 723 recorded in 56 districts, says a Free and Fair Election Network (FAFEN) report.

ISLAMABAD, September 26, 2012: Most sanctioned positions of medical staff lay vacant at District Headquarter Hospitals (DHQs) monitored in July with 14 out of the observed 20 having less than 70% occupancy rate, says a Free and Fair Election Network (FAFEN) report.

Murder cases up 8% in June

ISLAMABAD, Sept 19: Murder cases went up 8% with 1,085 being reported in 85 districts in June as compared with May figures of 996 covering 80 districts, says a Free and Fair Election Network (FAFEN) report. The report released Wednesday said Peshawar (54) and Faisalabad (49) were the highest murder reporting districts.

21 commodities see price hike; 18 register drop

ISLAMABAD, September 17: Data collected for August shows the prices of 21 commodities went up as compared with the preceding month while those of 18 came down and 12 remained unchanged, says a Free and Fair Election Network (FAFEN) report.

Meningitis cases up 83% in June

Cases of meningitis almost doubled - 12 districts reporting 267 in June as compared with 132 in 11 districts recorded in the preceding month, a Free and Fair Election Network (FAFEN) report said Thursday. FAFEN governance monitors visited 96 health offices in as many districts to collect statistics on diseases.

12% police stations need proper buildings

ISLAMABAD, September 6: Monitoring during the April-June 2012 quarter showed 20 police stations not housed in proper buildings although alternatives were available, says a Free and Fair Election Network (FAFEN) report. The report released Thursday said FAFEN monitors visited 171 police stations in 98 districts.

Crimes against Women Increase By 7% in a Year

ISLAMABAD, August 30: Crimes against women increased 7% this year as 57 districts reported 982 cases in May 2012 compared to 922 in the same month last year. However, over the last two years, an increase of 31% was reported in such crimes with 746 FIRs lodged in May 2010, says a Free and Fair Election Network (FAFEN) report.

60% increase in cases of gastrointestinal infections

ISLAMABAD, August 12: During the March-May 2012 quarter, cases of gastrointestinal diseases, which include diarrhea and dysentery and gastroenteritis, went up by 60% per district. A total of 690,431 such cases were registered in May as compared to 574,168 recorded in April and 372,411 in March.

Prices of vegetables and fruit up

ISLAMABAD, August 10: Prices of the observed vegetables increased in July as compared to the preceding month with onions registering a hike of 25% and tomatoes 21% as sowing of these two crops began in the monitored period, says a Free and Fair Election Network (FAFEN) report.
