ISLAMABAD, January 16, 2012: The National Assembly during the third sitting adopted a Resolution regarding the supremacy of democracy. A total of six Members – including the PM, the Leader of the Opposition, the parliamentary leaders of ANP and PPPS, and a Member of PMLN and MMAP - spoke on the Resolution for 80 minutes. The PMLN and PPPS Members staged a walkout protesting the Resolution.
ISLAMABAD, January 13, 2012: The National Assembly witnessed relatively better attendance of Members during the 2nd sitting of the ongoing session. A total of 141 Legislators were present at the start of the sitting while 212 were there at the end. With the exception of the parliamentary leader of MMAP, all other leaders were present.
ISLAMABAD, January 12, 2012: The National Assembly met for 34 minutes during the first sitting of the 38th session on Thursday, reports the Free and Fair Election Network (FAFEN) in its Daily Factsheet on the National Assembly proceedings. The House did not take up any formal agenda due to the death of MNA Azeem Daultana (NA-168) and Pir Pagara Syed Shah Mardan Shah-II.
ISLAMABAD, January 10, 2012: Almost 54% of MNAs participated in the 37th Session of the Lower House that left 76% of the agenda items listed on the Orders of the Day unaddressed mainly due to excessive use of Points of Order which consumed a little more than half of the session time.
ISLAMABAD, January 6, 2012: The National Assembly left all the Agenda items that appeared on the Orders of the Day unaddressed during its last sitting of the 37th session. Spread over an hour and 49 minutes, the sitting was marked by low attendance of Members with 72 Legislators present at the start and 125 there when the session prorogued.
